Local Outreach

The desire of Mount Olive is to reach out to others in the Name of our Lord and Savior with our hearts and our hands.  We use our hands by means of local, national and international mission trips and outreach.

LOCALLY

Backpack Buddy Program is a program where each week homeless children in the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County area receive a backpack filled with food for the weekend.  We realize that many of these children receive food through the week at schools but the weekend brings uncertainty of full meals.  Our backpacks contain breakfast, lunch, and meat products to help supplement what they have.  Currently we serve 18 children in two schools.

Our Agents of Mercy program is our church-based food pantry.  Each month church members donate items for food boxes that are packed and distributed by other members.  If you would like to contribute to this project, please call the church office.

We support many local ministries with contributions of money and service.  Locally, we support Our Community Place (Farm/Works), Comfort Mountain Farms, Harrisonburg Pregnancy Center, Bridge of Hope and Young Lives.
